Earth Day Projects

Dear All,

Each year on April 22nd we are celebrating "Earth Day." I would like to invite all of you to come up with special Earth Day projects for that day - or any other day of your choice this spring.

Please post your projects and inspire others to join you with similar projects. After all, creating a more sustainable world should be everybody's top priority....

  1. “Earth Hour” is an hour on March 31st, 2012 dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint.

Earth Hour began in 2007 on March 31st with 2 million people and 2 thousand businesses in Sydney, Australia. Since then Earth hour has grown into the biggest environmental action in history. Earth hour was an event started to bring about awareness and spark concern regarding climate change. 2011 marked the biggest year yet with over 1000 of the world’s biggest monuments standing in complete darkness. Some of these man-made marvels included the Pyramids in Egypt, Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, Sydney Opera House and Buckingham Palace.

In response to these efforts I would like to propose a challenge: Litterless lunches. Whether it is to school or work many of us bring lunches with us to get us through the day. I am challenging you to bring a “litterless lunch” for a week. This involves bringing only reusable containers and consumable items. This means no packaged food items or anything that must be thrown out after a meal.
